Every other week we will have a list of 10 vocabulary words. The students are responsible for creating a flash card (I call them "smart cards") for each word on the list. They will be quizzed every other Friday. They may use their smart cards on the quiz. They may NOT share with a classmate. Quizzes will primarily pertain to that week's words, but may also contain questions about vocabulary from previous weeks. Instructions on creating their smart cards will follow. All smart cards are to be kept together, in alphabetical order, either on a ring, in an index card storage box, or in the rings of a binder.

Smart cards must be in this format (in INK only):
FRONT - Vocabulary Word, written large and legibly. If we have discussed any of the root words, those must be underlined and defined underneath in a different color ink. First and last initials written in top right corner.
BACK - Definition of word and a complete sentence using the word.

Tips on Smart Cards:
- Look at your notes! You can find definitions and examples for many of the words by paying attention in class and using your notes when making your cards.
- Don’t procrastinate. Finish your cards early so that you have time to quiz with a friend. They may have a different definition, sentence or example, and that can lead to more discussion and understanding.
- Definitions can be found in the dictionary and in a number of online dictionaries and educational sites. Look for a definition that pertains to what we are studying in class.
